Wed 11 Mar, 16:28 Whilst I completely agree with Simon Hogg on slower speed = greater pedestrian safety, and the overall benefits are positive, it does not necessarily mean less fuel used (unless you're driving a BEV). Additionally, NOx and PM emissions are increased at 20mph vs. 30mph in general. https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/6899f224e7be62b4f0643229/speed-emission-energy-consumption-curves-operating-costs.pdf |

Wed 11 Mar, 08:05 The single lane on the Enstone Road created by parked vehicles creates a speed way in the open lane as vehicles try to beat on-coming traffic to the next driveway gap - often Wychwood House - so any 20 mph sign is ignored. Pedestrians and wheelie bins are in constant danger I have already made my point to the Town Council in writing and verbally |

Wed 11 Mar, 07:02 I thought it was a fact that more signs were confusing for drivers or that it became overload and they just didn't see them? Therefore the fewer random signs/stickers on bins the better. |

Wed 11 Mar, 05:57 (last edited on Wed 11 Mar, 06:32) Simon, I'm not questioning whether the 20mph is good or not. I believe it's correct in the right areas but OCC have gone over the top with making whole towns and villages 20mph. What I'm really questioning is that is this a justifiable cost with the roads in the current state they are in? I'm sure I will be told shortly that this is a different pot of money, but then, surely enforcement would be more beneficial. Psychology would take more notice of 3 points on your licence and a fine than it will of a sticker on a bin that is at the side of the road for a few hours a fortnight in most cases. Sorry Chris, whilst I agree with your comment 100%, as your name isn't Simon, you can't comment on this post 🤣 |

Tue 10 Mar, 22:16 Psychology over time, that's how it works. 20mph - reduced danger to pedestrians, less fuel used, less brake wear and more. Fewer vehicles = fewer potholes. Of course people disagreed with drink driving law and seatbelt law, when they were introduced and some people still probably do. Think again. |

Tue 10 Mar, 20:44 What a waste of money. Filling potholes would be a much better pastime for the County Council me thinks. |

Tue 10 Mar, 17:52 Im not sure they are a great idea. Would you take notice of a sticker on a wheelie bin? I don't think that anyone who speeds is likely to slow down because of an instruction from a bin but I am sure someone has carried out a survey on this and found them to be effective. I think a better use for them would be to stack them in a pothole and try and fill it with them. |

Tue 10 Mar, 17:29 Great idea, but all the free stickers have gone already if you want some they are 5 for £15 |
