Fri 13 Mar, 21:26 (last edited on Fri 13 Mar, 21:27) I go to Boots in Witney (just to give a different recommendation to my husband...) I don't know how expert they are on hereditary eye conditions, but I was impressed with them recently when I didn't adapt well to the glasses they had given me - although my prescription was correct they agreed my brain hadn't adapted and I needed a less strong one - and they replaced the glasses completely free of charge. Cotswold Opticians have been great for others in family as Andrew has said. |

Thu 12 Mar, 18:24 See Chris at Chipping Norton Opticians in the Health Centre there. Very through and although the frames are not as cheap as Specsavers you get what you pay for! 01608 648012 |

Tue 10 Mar, 11:29 Like Alexander, I have been impressed by Morgan Optometry in Kidlington (though they were rather dilatory in getting one pair of glasses made up). |

Tue 10 Mar, 07:22 I will just add that none of the opticians in Witney are able to diagnose or advise on eye issues from vestibular migraine. They all claimed the symptoms would improve when my eyesight deteriorated enough to need reading glasses. I started out at Cotswold opticians, and over the years went to all the others. Only spec savers did a hospital referral |

Tue 10 Mar, 06:50 I'll second Christine: Cotswold Opticians in Witney have now helped three generations of my family. I likewise provide my own frames. I have a mixture of hereditary eye problems and ones I've discovered all for myself. |

Mon 9 Mar, 23:03 Although a great deal has changed in the last 50 years as far as opticians are concerned I rely on my experience as an ophthalmic optician’s son! When we moved here in 2018 we went to Cotswold in Witney which was very convenient and Tom and the optometrist gave very good service. Unfortunately we had a difference of opinion last year and, having read the reviews, I tried Chipping Norton Opticians and was really impressed with the service I received there. |

Mon 9 Mar, 10:36 I use Cotswold Opticians, 43 Market Square, Witney. Tom, the dispensing optician, also spends part of the week at B. S. Breakwell Optometrists in Warwick. Some comments on his expertise can be found here: www.breakwelloptometrists.co.uk/our-team The frames on offer aren't cheap, but Tom is very willing to re-use frames where this makes sense. They also offer very good after-service where there is a problem with the glasses, and also if the frames suffer damage. I can't comment, however. on their understanding of hereditary eye conditions. |

Mon 9 Mar, 10:00 Hi all, can anyone recommend a good local optician? Either round here or in Oxford. I had a pretty useless appointment at the Specsavers in Witney recently and looking for an optician who is experienced and can understand hereditary eye conditions. Thanks for recommendations! |
