Situation in the Middle East - For Constituents

Christine, for me, that lot are Schadenfreude through and through. And no doubt before long we will see that ghastly Oak woman arriving on a government-paid evacuation flight from Dubai  when some wayward "missul" gets a bit too close to her precious boudoir for comfort.

For me, if any tax exiles are allowed on these evacuation flights, the price they should pay should be the actual flight cost PLUS the tax that they have avoided paying by skulking off to wherever they have skulked off too.

Am I cynical? Too damn right I am. Probably as cynical as her and her vile partner.

It is causing me concern, for the death and injury to ordinary people.

It's always hard to judge tone when reading comments online. And I'm afraid it didn't occur to me, Nicolette, that you were genuinely complimenting Sean Woodcock. For that I apologise.

But I don't retract my comments about Isabel Oakeshott. I see her column in the Daily Telegraph a couple of days ago bemoans the state of maternity care in the NHS: "First-time mothers do not know the terrible truth about what may await them on our wards ..."

But it's not "our" wards; it should read "your" wards, since Oakeshott is now happily living under Sharia law in Dubai because she was too mean to pay the taxes -- and, in particular, the VAT payments on private school fees -- that could go to support our welfare system, including the NHS.

There will be plenty of people who live in Banbury who have grave concerns about relatives stuck or living overseas, and probably a few in Charlbury as well. Not sure why Sean Woodcock's post attracted such a sarcastic response.

However, I note that Charlbury's most high-profile ex-resident, Isabel Oakeshott, keeps posting on X about how wonderful the situation in Dubai remains for UK tax exiles like her. So we are unlikely to see her back here. (Thank goodness, I say -- but I do wish she would stop commenting on a country where she no longer lives.)

Her new fiancé, Richard Tice, Reform MP and multi-millionaire backer of Reform UK, currently splits his time between Dubai, Skegness (his constituency), Buckinghamshire and Belgravia (his 2 main UK homes). Interesting how a Reform MP and his partner keep praising the advantages of living in Dubai, and how much safer it is than London. It's hard to avoid a feeling of Schadenfreude

I could share some of the messages I'm receiving from my son in Qatar on an hourly basis watching missiles being intercepted overhead from his balcony. But then his home address is not a resident of this constituency.
