Important detail - Charlbury Lunch Club is on a Wednesday, every week. You volunteer just once a month.

Helpers and the cook each week enjoy a free 2 course meal (main and pudding) with the seniors - a thank you for your time and kindness.

You cook for 14-16 people including the seniors, helpers and yourself. Food is served at 12-12.15pm and the meal is completed by 1.30pm. You are responsible for buying and cooking the food and reclaim the cost. You don't have to stay and eat the meal if you are time challenged.

Why consider this?

• Lovely team

• Making a difference

• Get to know new people locally

• Fascinating diverse clients – wisdom, life experience. Usually two thirds women, one third men approx.

• Small time commitment – once a month, just 2-4 hours commitment, plus shopping time, unless you buy on-line

• If a cook, introduce them to new recipes. Cooks have 2 helpers, so you just cook.

• Prevent loneliness and isolation amongst our seniors

Find out more. You have nothing to lose.

One day we will be the clients and wish that someone had done this for us.

Do a trial run, no obligation and then decide.

Contact Tanya or Kath. Set the ball rolling today - get in touch to explore if this is for you.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Charlbury lunch club is held on Wednesdays 11.30am-2pm in the Garden Room of the Memorial Hall – we provide a delicious home cooked meal and some games or entertainment. It is ably led by Kath Lucas supported by Carole Montague and a large team of volunteers.

We currently have space for a couple more members to come and join us. Transport can be provided by volunteers if needed; please get in touch if you would like to join us. The cost of £6 per week is subsidised by the charity.

We would love to recruit another volunteer cook, so if you think you could cook a simple two course meal for about a dozen people once every five or six weeks, we’d be hugely grateful to hear from you.

We would also appreciate another driver. This involves picking up one or two people from their home in Charlbury at about 11.30am and then coming back to take them home at 2pm. It only takes a few minutes, and you would again only need to do it once a month or so.

Please email or phone us if you can help or if you or a loved one would like to join us on Wednesdays. It is a very friendly and welcoming group, with lively conversation and much laughter.
