Hallo Nick, If you've not already been in touch with Charlbury Museum, can I suggest you contact them. They have file cards with records of births, marriages and deaths of many (but not all) local families, going back generations, and Harwood is certainly a well-known surname in Oxfordshire.

The Charlbury Museum website is here: charlburymuseum.org.uk/  They also have a really useful library of local books. It's of course best to visit if you can. Although the Museum is closed until Easter, you can email them on info@charlburymuseum.org.uk to see if they can help.

In addition, if one of your relatives was from Oxfordshire and was involved in the armed forces, you could also contact the Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum in Woodstock. The website is here: www.sofo.org.uk/

It's also worth posting a message on the Facebook page "Charlbury is a Town! Not a Village!" in case somebody remembers or has knowledge of your relatives.

Good luck!

Hi, I am new to this Forum and would like to say hello first.

I am looking for information on my Nana's family, who had the surname of Harwood and lived in Chalbury in the 1920's I think. There were 2 sons called Harold and Donald, also my Nana (Edith Josephine) had 3 sisters called the following: Lucy (who went by Pamela), Cynthia and Audrey (who went by the name of Mona). Any information on the family would be gratefully received, no matter how small. My Nana became a Nurse during the war and then went on to marry Robert Rowe, who was a mechanic in the R.A.F.

Many thanks and best wishes,

Nick Rowe.
