Is the woman on the first train photo the liaison officer?

Malcolm, I know that Network Rail welcomes work experience placements, so it's probably best to contact them at www.networkrail.co.uk/aspx/2709.aspx. From experience I can say that the placement programme is very popular and can be well over-subscribed.
I've known students getting an appreciation of complicated project work such as the Blackfriars Station Thameslink scheme www.thameslinkprogramme.co.uk/cms/pages/view/40, and some quite interesting work on climate change impacts on railway operations up to 2050.
Good Luck!

Surely if you wanted her to have a role in physical infrastructure working for Railtrack rather than FGW would be better? My cousin is a civil engineer for Railtrack; she is partially responsible for the design of Oxford station.

I find your comment regarding hairdressers both derogatory and insulting.

It's Teresa Ceesay I was thinking of - I'd gone completely blank. Now that I think of it job experience on a project management week would be most excellent experience for a young woman who is totally obsessed with socialising and clothes... wonder if the health and school safety executive surveyor would veto it even if FGW would consider it for a schoolgirl? Strikes me as a good role model to aspire to compared to a hairdresser for someone in the top sets! Show women can do roles in real physical infrastructure work!

The local station manager is Teresa Ceesay - are you thinking of her?

Malcolm, if you mean in the orange outfit, then no. That's Sharon Michell, who is one of the Network Rail project managers.

Is the woman in the foreground of the photo of the first train arriving at the new up platform the FGW liaison officer whose name I can't remember? I'd like to get in touch with her about my daughter's work experience week next year as it struck me as interesting to shadow someone doing that sort of work for some days. Something about her was familiar but hard to tell under all the coveralls!
