Oxford Parkway Fines (Roads)

Be very careful to retain your parking ticket and receipt when parking in the bus park-and-ride area at Oxford Parkway, or have proof of payment if using the RingGo app.

Last week I received a parking ticket around 15 minutes after having paid for parking by credit card on the nearby machines. It's now Oxford City Council giving out the parking tickets, even though it's still OCC that owns the car park. The fine has gone up to £100, reduced to £50 if paid promptly. The fine was cancelled when I provided photos of the ticket and receipt, but without any apology or explanation of why I had been ticketed.

As noted elsewhere, the ticket won't be valid if you use the wrong machines, i.e. if you park in the Railway Car Park of Parkway, rather than in the Bus Car Parking areas. It's only cars parked in the bus area that get a free return bus into town for up to 2 adults and 3 children. Not all bus drivers know about the free bus fare (for 3 months only), so you may need to insist on this option.

Note the maximum stay in the Bus Car Park is 72 hours at any one time, even if you buy the weekly bus car park ticket. The railway car park offers options for longer stays.
