Sun 16 Nov 2025, 08:45 What would be good, if we could have points in discreet corners of Charlbury including the corner of the park where all the leaves that are collected up, put in open makeshift compost bins. When they finally break down the residents could use the compost. |

Sat 15 Nov 2025, 19:32 It looks like an elf or two has already been at work on the Hixet Wood pavement, which is great - but there's still a fair length to do. Sunday morning, 10.00, and it's supposed not to be raining! |

Fri 14 Nov 2025, 18:53 Funnily enough, I have been wondering if our town counsellors could request, from the Highways Authority, a total clearance of the wet leaves and mud in what must be tons, all around the Co-op/Pooles Lane/Enstone Road area. I'm aware there must be other streets as bad, but this is a particularly awful slippery mess. By now it is requiring an industrial-scale job, as no few people would be able to shift it all, and to where, anyway? It is a dangerous area now, especially in the dark evenings. Charlbury council tax payers, arise and join me in the protest! “Something should be done”! |

Fri 14 Nov 2025, 18:51 Our efforts are still very much required, despite the appropriate propitiations to Ubico, god of street-sweepers. Hannen's view only shows part of the picture - further round the corner, the machine cleared one-third of the path width (much appreciated), but that still leaves (no pun intended) plenty more to do. |

Fri 14 Nov 2025, 15:10 ![]() The Highways Authority must have read your post, Simon. Hixet Wood, at midday today Friday 14 November. The leaf machine was out this morning, although I expect there will be a few more waiting for you by Sunday. ;-) |

Fri 14 Nov 2025, 09:54 I aim to be making a start on clearing the fallen leaves from the pavement at the top end of Hixet Wood on Sunday morning. If anyone would like to get a bit of respite from cabin fever (after two days of rain) and come and join me, please do so. Bring your own rakes, yard brushes, shovels, grabbers, etc. Squelch-off time about 10.00. |
