Fri 14 Nov, 18:53 Funnily enough, I have been wondering if our town counsellors could request, from the Highways Authority, a total clearance of the wet leaves and mud in what must be tons, all around the Co-op/Pooles Lane/Enstone Road area. I'm aware there must be other streets as bad, but this is a particularly awful slippery mess. By now it is requiring an industrial-scale job, as no few people would be able to shift it all, and to where, anyway? It is a dangerous area now, especially in the dark evenings. Charlbury council tax payers, arise and join me in the protest! “Something should be done”! |

Fri 14 Nov, 18:51 Our efforts are still very much required, despite the appropriate propitiations to Ubico, god of street-sweepers. Hannen's view only shows part of the picture - further round the corner, the machine cleared one-third of the path width (much appreciated), but that still leaves (no pun intended) plenty more to do. |

Fri 14 Nov, 15:10 ![]() The Highways Authority must have read your post, Simon. Hixet Wood, at midday today Friday 14 November. The leaf machine was out this morning, although I expect there will be a few more waiting for you by Sunday. ;-) |

Fri 14 Nov, 09:54 I aim to be making a start on clearing the fallen leaves from the pavement at the top end of Hixet Wood on Sunday morning. If anyone would like to get a bit of respite from cabin fever (after two days of rain) and come and join me, please do so. Bring your own rakes, yard brushes, shovels, grabbers, etc. Squelch-off time about 10.00. |
