Sorry, yes I agree.  It took a bit longer than half an hour but worth it I think.  I've just taken a summary of my responses to our local MP Sean Woodcock to ask him what the Labour view was.

Like most of us he wasn't aware of how we were proposing to stop a democratic and legislative regulation and control on the import of chemical substances within products and changing the labelling requirements so that we didn't know.  To replace the EU REACH that we left all those years ago saying that we could have more control.   He said he would refer it to someone I hadn't heard of - it might have been Ashley Dalton?  It covers most departments.

You may have missed, amongst the excitement of new trade deals with the US & India a consultation on the deregulation of chemicals permitted to be used in imports from 'trusted foreign jurisdictions'.

https://consultations.hse.gov.uk/hse/chemicals-legislative-reform-proposals/consultation/

The Government is proposing that we should no longer have a set of standards agreed by ourselves and that in future the standards of our trusted trading partners will be accepted.  We must now accept the rules of nations with whom we trade rather than setting those rules in a democratic process.

This consultation appeared quietly without fanfare or announcement just before the summer holidays.  The deadline for responses is 18th August.

I would urge our Town, District and County Councils, the Health Services, the Cotswold wildlife and environment groups, farmers particularly and all concerned residents to spend a half hour responding to this online questionnaire.  Thank you.
