Tue 8 Jul, 23:41 I remember Live Aid very well. And I have a story about it ... On the day, I never saw any of it until later. I had been summoned to London by my then girlfriend. Within 5 minutes of arriving, I realised that I had been summoned in order to be finished with! I loaded all of my stuff into the car, and set off back home, feeling rather miserable. I remember the next bit so clearly! Heading out of London, I had just got onto the Hammersmith Flyover when on to the radio came ... George Thorogood and The Destroyers! And they launched into "Madison Blues"! And suddenly that pesky woman who had finished with me earlier did not matter! And I had wanted to thank Mister Thorogood and his band from then on! This was years before I met some people who are now very dear friends, and who have supported George Thorogood on various tours in the USA! I told them that story, and asked them to thank him if they ever got the chance! Whether he ever got to hear my story I don't know! But I love his version of "Madison Blues" to this day! |

Mon 7 Jul, 23:03 If you were around 40 years ago and remember Live Aid then you must watch on IPlayer a very impressive 3 part documentary. |
