We need someone/ones to create a complete series of "Hedgehog Holes" in the very large and CONTIGUOUS "L" shaped gardens that extend from the end of the gardens at the allotments/Toll House end on the Enstone Road, all the way around to Dithchley Road, then Cherwell Drive, then a solid run of back gardens around the western end of The Green, all the way to the two twittens that go between Hundley Way and Enstone Road. Then with no traffic danger, all along the gardens along Hundley Way's north side and all the way up to the garages at the east of the houses; and then communicating into the dormant ground behind those someone keeps on wanting to build upon .... (when it should become something like Centennial err Millennium Wood - I've got one of those senior moment blanks about the correct name darnit) because traffic flows from more dwellings would be unacceptable ).

They, the Hog-Hatches and gardens, could all be connected together to MAKE ACRES AND ACRES OF HEDGY HABITAT! Its a huge area with almost NO TRAFFIC THREAT - because anyone driving along the un-adopted surface of Hundley Way at a speed so as to fail to see a Hedgy ... well ...

I just am too injured by occupational hazards, injuries and exposures in my youth in construction and to agricultural/horticultural 1st generation pesticide/fungicide [NO-ONE I know working in those sectors made Retirement age before having to go off permanently "sick". NO-ONE.

I've wanted to do a "Hedgehog Hole" campaign around the whole "Big  'L' hereabouts for years and just can't cope.

Will someone PLEASE adopt this project? Because the square land area of road free terrain is very large indeed and would support ... well, many many Hedgies does a given land area of suburban gardens support?

I've been SO frustrated!

So it's always useful to have information if there is a dead hedgehog rather than saying nothing and discretely disposing of it

1. When

2. Where, which side of the road, facing which direction etc.

3. Details about the hedgehog, how big, what condition, male or female of possible

4. What was the cause of death, if it's possible to ascertain

Thanks

On a positive note, my son was camping at the campsite at Spelsbury last weekend and saw around 10 baby hedgehogs and one adult there. They were given water.

Smaller cars, see here: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/jun/11/ever-rising-height-car-bonnets-suv-threat-to-children-report

Driving slower and with care and awareness.

This is happening all too often. So tragically sad :( what can be done about it! I do not know.

It had been run over. We went back later to bury it but someone had removed it.
It was adult.

There is a deceased hedgehog on Nine Acres road as you come past the post box. Unfortunately I had nothing on me to put it on the verge. RIP little 🦔
