The Government's Spending Review and you.

Hi everyone,

Firstly, thank you to the admin for allowing me to post.

I’m Sean Woodcock and I’m your Labour MP for Banbury, including Charlbury.

You might have seen some news about the Government’s ‘Spending Review’ and you might be wondering what this is and what it means for you, so I just wanted to share a quick update on it.

The Spending Review is like when you and your family sit down to budget for things like food, bills, and savings except on a national scale. So, the Labour Government has set its plan for its top priorities; your health (the NHS), your wallet (the economy) and your security (national defence) to make sure you and your family are better off in the long term._

There’s welcome investment coming to Oxfordshire — including £2.5 billion for East-West Rail from Oxford, to Milton Keynes and Cambridge.

This means real opportunities for our community: more jobs, and better public transport link from Oxfordshire eastwards.

And we’re already starting to see progress:

Interest rates have been cut 4 times.

The UK is the fastest growing economy of any major world economy.

Wages are rising and we’ve increased the minimum wage.

NHS waiting lists have fallen for 6 months

We’ve signed 3 big trade deals with our international allies

But we know it’s still tough at the moment. That’s what the Spending Review is about - how we fix our country for the long term to make sure you and your family are better off. My team and I will be working to ensure we make the most of this – pushing for improvements you’ve told me matter.
