Poor little hedgehog.

I would also add that you should avoid leaf blowers and they descimate insects, ripping their wings off, including lace wing flies, butterflies etc.. I know we're not in the season where blowers are popular, but it's worth thinking about for the autumn. A rake and pair of gloves will be just, if not more effective, and are cheaper too.

Please if you need to use a grass strimmer, check the grass first for hedgehogs. There has recently been a casualty. If the wound doesn't kill them, the shock probably will.  We are so very lucky to be maintaining a population of hedgehogs here in Charlbury, a huge effort goes into looking after them, so the loss of one is extremely sad.  They will be out and about looking for food and each other now, please report sightings here or on charlburywildlifesociety@gmail.com

If you know you have hedgehogs visiting your garden perhaps put out a feeding station, with hedgehog or kitten food and water.

Thank you.
