Congratulations indeed.

The first woman to be awarded the Nobel Prize in economics was a lovely lady by name of Elinor Ostrum.   She addressed the work of another economist whose conclusion, after studying how people compete for scarce resources (the Tragedy of the Commons), was that we're all doomed, that we'd soon need rationing and maybe forced contraception and lots of nasty things.   Professor Ostrum showed that in practice this doesn't happen, and the reason it doesn't happen is that people form communities and the bonds of community are strong enough to resist. 

Thank you, Liz, for what you and your colleagues do for the community.

Politics is divisive.
