If you stand in the carpark in the 1hr spaces, there's one towards the left just over the wall. I haven't been in the car park for over a year, but as far as I remember it's the tallest of the trees you can see. There was also a seedling in the ground by the  disabled spaces for a couple of years. It kept getting cut down and sprouting again, so never got very tall, but I think that's finally been got rid of.

Yes it's The Empress Tree.  Also known as Paulownia tomentosa. It's everything you say, but I'm afraid it's not uncommon as many people want to grow it.

Hello all! 

I spotted a beautiful tree today coming out of Leafield so I done some investigation and found it to be a native tree to China and Korea called an Empress. Does anyone know how common they are in Britain? I don’t think I have ever seen one before and it was stunning!
