The people who are trying to break up Canada are the same of those who are trying with limited success to break up Europe.  They were successful with breaking us off from our natural trading partners and making us weaker and now they want Canada's natural resources.  My family in Canada wondered why the UK and the King were so quiet in the face of Trump's threats.  We must stand up to bullies at home and abroad.

Yes Mike, we enjoyed the same oil derivative cheese in S. London in the 50/60's.  We have so much in common!  Happily things got better from 1973.  You missed the words "recently established good cheese production".  I shall look forward to a new monthly cheese stall and hope that it survives.

Alice must have lived somewhere with far better cheese than we had in Liverpool.

The only edible cheese we could get in my childhood from our (to be honest, extremely smelly and fly-blown) local grocery shop was Canadian-made, but US-owned, Kraft Cracker Barrel.

And I'd estimate the likelihood of inedible North American cheese at the wonderful new cheese stall who's promising to come here every month at about zero.

I speak to many friends in Canada, not least about the election. Their universal opinion is that Carney is the only way to vote if Canada is to remain as a nation. They seem to believe that Poilievre is as inexperienced, extreme and crazy as Trump is, and could well hand Canada over to America, as Trump wants.

As one who has a very strong family connection with Canada, I shall be following the election closely, and hoping with all my heart that Carney will win a resounding victory.

I'm afraid I'm reading in NYT that "Canada Proud" and other far right partisan groups are posting lots of fake news that seems to be having a negative impact on his campaign.  Well done for alerting local dual citizens to vote.

I'm happy to welcome a flotilla of American & Canadian asylum seekers but I will be taking positive action to raise the barricades against mountains of cheap inedible American (& Canadian) cheese flooding our markets and ending our own fragile recently established good cheese production.

Carney Shows the Way

Cometh the hour, cometh the man. It is not only Canadians who should count themselves fortunate that, through domestic political happenstance, Mark Carney became prime minister of Canada at exactly the moment that his skills and experience were needed to…
