It was actually Wales & West Utilities rather than United Utilities, according to the BBC article at https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4g3mzlp022o

A few developments:

thank you Angus for the wonderful photo.

I notice that Richard has put the Road Closure Order on the front page of the website today. Is that because people ( including me when I'm in a hurry) have been ignoring it now you can navigate your way through?

Finally, there is a strong rumour that the contractors  have gone bust and won't be coming back to finish off the job. This was stated by one of the contractors yesterday. Liz, when you've finished your celebrations, could you investigate , please?

Just hope they do better with their spelling than Wales and West* Utilities did in Cirencester:

* Thank you, Charlie; duly corrected! 😀

I presume that you do not have to "EE EAR" if you are coming from the opposite direction?

After Pooles Lane's closure for three and a half months, I thought the contractors had finished yesterday when I saw them painting the road markings. But no. They have reinstated the markings on the new tarmac. It is, I'm told in all seriousness, the highways authority's duty to repaint on the existing road. We await a K,P C and L.

Why are they replacing a gas main?  If the infra-structure is crumbling wouldn't it have been cheaper to pay all those affected to move to electricity?  Seems like a terrible waste of money to me.

They do seem to be digging lots of holes around Charlbury at the moment. I dont know if this is down to ageing infrastructure or whether someone has found a treasure map?

How long will we have to endure the seemingly endless roadworks on the Slade at the top of Dancers Hill. Progress has stalled now for several weeks.
