I used Oxfordshire door stripping a couple of years ago for two Victorian pine doors caked in paint. They came back completely stripped of any paint. They stink of chemicals for a month or two, and the timber is quite soft for a while - a good time to clamp together if they have split apart a bit. I was charged £ 30 per door and £ 30 to come to my house. £ 90 in all for two doors.

This may not be the right thing for the OP.

You could try Mark Groethe Antique Restoration & Interiors in Banbury

Telephone: 07976040238 I know he's often in Charlbury at the moment and is good at this sort of thing.

Have you tried Capital Door Stripping in Oxfordshire?  https://oxfordshiredoorstripping.co.uk/services/our-services-list/

Their map seems to cover our area. And the company seems to still exist -- I haven't used them, but the company I used seems to have gone out of business.

I wrote this back in April. You might ask the person who was asking back then who they ended up using. See https://www.charlbury.info/forum/11798#60590

It used to be Martin Dodds but he has now retired, sadly. I'm keen to see the replies as I also need a chair stripped.

We have a much loved cherry wood kitchen table which needs stripping down and rebuilding up on its surface. Can anyone recommend someone who knows how to do this properly? Many thanks in anticipation.
