Is the Council meeting on Wednesday 7 30 at the memorial hall?

Thanks for your input. Just because the numbers are small doesn't mean a big percentage increase is okay. It's better to fund one-off projects with donations or fundraising, instead of hiking taxes, which will just stick around on the bill for years.

Count me in to support any fundraising activities.

For what it’s worth, the difference between an 11.5% rise and a 4% rise would be 16.6p a week on a Band E property.

All TC's need substantial reserves, especially if they manage buildings but not exclusive to. When I was on the TC, the reserves were too low and this was flagged by the external auditors.

Why not simply read the town council finance report and explanation:

https://charlbury-tc.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Explanation-of-budgetprecept-2024-2025.pdf

Half is work on the 9 Acres pitches, the other half a requirement from the external auditors.

For what purpose is the town council building up reserves with our earnings? Should they not just spend what they have?

Wish I had a 11% pay rise to cover the increase but unfortunately like with all other bills, this is yet again an increase far above inflation.

Will there be an increase below inflation next year to balance things out?

What are the 2 expensive items to cost £20000.00 ? as a matter of interest.

I think that £2/ household / week for the Town Council is pretty good value.  The increase this year is due to two exceptional items of circa £20k: Building up reserves and renovation of the pitches on Nine Acres.

Hi, could someone from the Town Council please explain why our tax bills for the Town Council are going up 11%, when other services are going up between only 2% and 5.1% (Oxfordshire 3%, WODC 4.2%, Thames Valley Police 5.1%)?
