Book of cycling cartoons published by a local firm, sounds like fun.

Apart from Evenlode Books and this lot, Wychwood Studio, what other local publishers are there? Is Peter Whitfield a local author?

Dear All,

Hot off the presses ...........

"Do you mean to say you have never ridden a bicycle?" The world of
Johnny Helms / edited by Peter Whitfield

Charlbury : Wychwood Studio, 2006.

ISBN 0951483889

Price: 5 pounds, available from:
Wychwood Studio, Tachbrook House, Charlbury, Oxfordshire, OX7 3PS

The cartoons in this book originally appeared in the magazine
'Cycling'. This collection is therefore dedicated to the seven
editors who published Helms's work between 1946 and today.

"All cyclists know the cartoons of Johnny Helms, which evoke so
brilliantly the almost-vanished world of British club cycling. His
hopeless anti-heroes, Baz and Honk, with all their disasters - their
crashes, their punctures, and their battles with dogs - have
entertained thousands of readers, from the first publication of his
work in 1946 through to the present day. This book looks back
nostalgically over sixty years of Helms's work, selecting more than
500 of his funniest pictures. The result is an anniversary volume
that will delight all those who have ever tried the noble but
maddening sport of cycling".

An ideal stocking filler for Christmas!
