Might I suggest that the Town Council seek to co-opt a young person for the remainder of this term of office? Say, a person aged between 18 and 25 yrs?

Tim Crisp has resigned.  I don't think there has been any response from WODC with regard to the vacancy.

Could someone clarify what is happening re: the casual vacancy that I believe has arisen?

I can remember Town Councillors who have been paid up members of the Conservative, Labour, LibDem and Green parties. They have all sat as independents and their (personal) party membership has had no correlation to their enthusiasm, ability or competence. I don’t know if we’ve ever had a Monster Raving Loony though I have my suspicions.

I once stood using a description of "Drinks Ale, Plays Cricket".  I'm sure some might find ways to declare that political, but it would take some contortion.

Tim, that was just a byline all candidates had to include when we registered but rest assured all of those elected are independent and not funded by a political party.

Obviously, each councillor will have their own political views and possible affiliations that will align with one party or ideology more than another, including Gary Harrison.

Congratulations to Gary on being elected as the new chair of Charlbury Town Council and thanks to Liz for the work that she did as Chair over the last two years. 😁

That's great news but I was only referring to the article

https://www.charlbury.info/news/archive/2021/4  about halfway down this page

which refers all 18 candidates who had been nominated for the 12 places on Charlbury Town Council, with their self-supplied descriptions.

and just 6 of them describe themselves as independent that's all.

Yes, all the town councillors' ran on an independent platform. No funding was received from any of main political parties.

I think you'll find we are all independent.

Congratulations to Gary Harrison on his election to be the new Chair of the Charlbury Town Council, good to see that we have an independent back at the helm.
