Has anyone 6 or 8 Chinese lanterns for sale? Mine are so old that they are fawn instead of the original red.

Any offers - Janet on 810681..  Many thanks!

Forum clearout

I've removed a bunch of outdated postings, and grouped a few single-post topics, to make the forum easier to use.

I've recreated the off-topic board so that those of you who just can't restrain yourself from wibbling can go and post there. Please remember that the main Charlbury Forum is for discussion of town issues. Comments on national/international issues will be moved across to the off-topic board... alternatively, you might like to write a letter to the Guardian.

The free adverts are also now back (see the link at the bottom of the front page), so you can post 'for sale' and 'wanted' ads there rather than on the forum.

Yes, the old photos will be back. Colin Critch has kindly offered some webspace and it's just waiting on me to upload them now.

Hi There,

I just wondered if you intend to have the section for photos of Chsrlbury as you did on the old web site

Keep up the good work

I think you put in allot of very comendable work.
But I have found living here as a single young new comer is really difficault socially. And don't find people to be warm, friendly or particually welcoming.
Maybe that is why there is so much bickering.

News and events will, finally, be back up at the end of this week. Many apologies for the delay - pressures of work, I'm afraid!

Well done, Richard. I had all but given up on the old site except as an object of fun. This looks much more professional and potentially productive. Let's hope the new contributions are able to share the same spirit of improvement.

Why complain when you can make something better?

All the best,

Igor

You'll notice a couple of changes:

  • You now need to log in before you can post.
  • When you use the forum for the first time, you'll be asked to agree to the terms of use. Please do read them carefully.
  • The presentation has changed in several ways. For example, threads are now displayed with the most recent posting at the top.

Though logging in might seem a hassle at first, it'll allow you to do all sorts of things as the site evolves. For example, it'll be easier to post events and adverts on the site, and business owners will be able to maintain their own listings or pages.

This is the first time that this new forum has been exposed to the big wide world, and there will doubtless be some bugs. If you spot anything, or have any suggestions, do e-mail me at info@charlbury.info .

As ever, thanks for your support and for all the messages of encouragement received over the past week.
