What’s on

Sat 12 Sep 2020: Ride and Stride

This event is in the past.

The Ride and Stride is bouncing back out of lockdown!

A good day out for all the family

Whether on bike, roller skates or Shank’s Pony this is for YOU!!

On Saturday 12 September the roads of Oxfordshire will again see hundreds of cyclists and walkers taking part in OHCT’s annual sponsored Ride and Stride.  Whatever the weather they visit as many churches as they can to raise money to help maintain Oxfordshire’s churches of all denominations.

These buildings are focal points in our communities. They connect us with past and future generations, and we all expect them to be there for the major events in our lives, but they receive no government funding and cost a lot to maintain.

The annual Ride and Stride is not just a good way of raising money for a very good cause; it is also good exercise and good fun for all the family. You set your own target, and, just when you think your lungs cannot cope with any more, you reach another church offering refreshments, encouragement and an excuse to stop and have a look round.

You do not have to be a churchgoer to take part and enjoy a really good day out. You can sign up online at ohct.org.uk/ride-stride/ and get all the information you need or there will be sign-up and sponsorship forms in each of Charlbury’s churches.

And for the fourth year in succession... for children of Primary School age there will again be a junior version – a bike rally round the five churches of Charlbury. Some forty children took part last year and enjoyed it enormously. This year it will be bigger and better and culminate in Charlbury’s first ever Bike Gymkhana and a mass family picnic on the school playing field. All welcome! See details below.

We really look forward to having you with us! Some details may have to be adapted to conform with the latest Covid-19 regulations. So watch this space for more details later but put the date in your diary now!!
