Thu 28 Feb 2019: The Makers' Monthly Market 5-7.30pm

This event is in the past.

The February market is welcoming the onset of spring, the revival of the land so the agricultural year could begin.  The Celts called it imbolc, a midwinter feast of light.  this tradition was observed by both the Celts and the Romans,  they celebrated it with food and music.  The Celts ate among other things colcannon and one of the roman dishes was a zuppa of beans and veggies.  We bring you Gaelic music by Kath and her friends and the fab cooks are producing zuppa alla frantoina, a wonderful bean 'stew' eaten on toasted sourdough bread with fabulous scallion olive oil by our Maria Louisa Renda Farm and topped with parmesan it is an exquisite dish.  this is the main vegan dish accompanied  by pork in cider.

The newcomers to our market are The Driver's Drinks co and jewellers Mary Robson and Paula.

we look forward to seeing you there.
