Thu 13 May 2027: Charlbury Society Talk with Mike White
Rogues of the Road: Oxfordshire's Highwaymen
Discover the dark and daring history that unfolded right here on Oxfordshire’s roads. In this talk Mike details the lives of the notorious characters who once terrorised travellers across our county. These weren’t romanticised Hollywood heroes – they were real people living desperate, dangerous lives on the margins of society. From moonlit robberies on familiar roads to dramatic chases through landscapes you can still visit today, these tales connect us to Oxfordshire’s colourful and sometimes criminal past.
Please join us in the Memorial Hall for refreshments from 7.15pm. The talk will begin at 7.30pm and is free for members, £3 for guests.
