Thu 16 Jul: Morris Room Talk – Lowland Rescue
When a high‑risk, vulnerable person goes missing, a highly trained team of volunteers may be out there - day or night, in all weathers - working to help bring them home. In this behind‑the‑scenes talk, Hamish Nichol, a qualified search technician and operational-support volunteer from Lowland Rescue Oxfordshire will explain what the organisation is, how lowland search teams operate alongside the police, and what really happens during a search. You’ll also learn about the Herbert Protocol, a simple but powerful scheme that can make a life‑saving difference for people living with dementia. This talk offers a fascinating insight into an often-unseen emergency service.
7.00 pm in the Morris Room (upstairs in the Corner House); refreshments from 6.30 pm. Entry free; donations invited.
This is one of a series of talks in which Charlbury residents share their interests & enthusiasms. The next, about the London of the Music Hall era, is on August 5th. (Would you like to share yours with us? Let us know!)
