Tue 24 Feb: What really matters
This is the first in a series of talks for Lent held in St Mary's parish church on Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm. The theme of the talks is 'moved by love'.
The speaker is Tony Lloyd, chairman of the Charlbury Art Society. Tony is a sculptor and printmaker based at Royal Oak Press in Charlbury. As well as making his own work he particularly enjoys working with other artists, whether on collaborative projects or through running printmaking workshops.
Tony qualified as a chemical engineer and then completed a successful 40-year career in the paper industry. Returning to his creative roots he embarked upon a Fine Art degree from DeMontfort University followed by an MA in Multidisciplinary Printmaking UWE Bristol.
Creativity is at the core of what it is to be human, whether we are providing an experience ourselves or being stimulated by the creativity of others. Tony will discuss the process and the mindset that enables creativity to happen in every sphere of human endeavour from art, music, literature and theatre to science and engineering.
Doors open at 7pm. Admission free. Donations will be welcome towards expenses and for Christian Aid. Everyone is welcome.
