Wed 8 Apr: Ann Lowe- Textile Art
Ann will give a wide ranging and colourful talk on Textile Art from Africa to Roman snails, looking at the breadth of the medium, how artists have used it and how she has applied it in her own practice.
During a forty plus year career in the NHS, textiles, in many guises, played an important part in Ann's life as a hobby and stress reducer.
A skilled stitcher, both by hand and machine free motion, Ann has developed a special enjoyment in designing her own pieces. These range from useable craft objects to wall hangings, both large and small and include a variety of fabrics and threads, many of which are dyed and printed by her. Creating textural surfaces plays an important role in her work.
