Thu 20 Nov: Workshop on Home Composting with Tim Mitchell

On 20th November, at the Memorial Hall, the Garden Society has organised a workshop on home composting, lead by Tim Mitchell from Asthall Manor Kitchen Garden.

This will be a chance to improve your home composting skills or simply learn the basics of different composting systems.

We'll be getting out hands dirty and playing a game or two to aid the fun and learning.

Good, home-based or community-based composting is one of the key but often missing links to achieving the growing of healthy, nutritious food. It’s also a great way to make best use of organic waste materials, recycling valuable nutrients while absorbing carbon and minimising our impact on council waste systems and the environment alike.

“Feed the soil, not the plant” has gone from being a maxim of Organic food growing to a keystone of all progressive agricultural practice. Feeding the soil begins with making great compost!

Sometimes our plants need a helping hand, so you will also learn how to make effective and wildlife-friendly plant-based fertilisers, for free!

Event free to members, £3 for non-members.

This event will also be an opportunity for members to renew their subscription for 2026, and for new members to join us!

You can also do this online in advance of the talk, all the details can be found on our Membership page here: http://www.charlburygardensociety.org.uk/membership/
