Sat 7 Jun: Guided tour of Coldron Mill and Gardens, Spelsbury

Guided Tour of Coldron Mill and Gardens, Spelsbury
Saturday 7th June 2025, 10.00am
Stephen and Kimiko Barber have kindly offered to host a tour of the grounds of Coldron Mill and its 5-acre garden and arboretum for supporters of All Saints' Church, Spelsbury. Lying at a low point of the Evenlode Valley at the confluence of Taston and Coldron Brooks, Coldron Mill is a 'captive site' and SSSI, teeming with wildlife.
The history of the Mill can be traced back to around 840AD, when King Bertwulf of Mercia granted Spelsbury to the Bishop of Worcester. The Domesday Book of 1086 records a water-mill at Spelsbury worth 50d. Since 1997 the Barbers have installed a new millwheel (the old, wooden one is in storage with the Science Museum) and continued the garden project begun by the previous owners, planting an arboretum with over 100 native and exotic species. They have also begun the restoration of an adjoining ancient meadow.
