Sun 11 May-Sat 17 May: Christian Aid Week

Christian Aid Week 11 - 17 May. There is a united service led by the Methodist Church in St Mary's at 10am on Sunday 11 May. Everyone is welcome.
During the week volunteers will be delivering donation envelopes round Charlbury. Donations can be taken to Cornerstone, the main collection point, or brought to one of the local churches. This year's publicity focusses on farmers in Guatemala struggling to live with extreme weather events. Christian Aid is helping people adapt to living with climate change in many of the poorest communities across the world.
Christian Aid began in 1945 to help refugees and people suffering from food and other shortages at the end of the war in Europe. Gradually the work expanded to help meet the needs of people beyond Europe, both Christian and non-Christian.
Christian Aid is committed to the belief that everyone is equal in the sight of God. The website says; "For 80 years, this truth has inspired us to stand together in solidarity with our most marginalised global neighbours, of all faiths and none. Poverty is an outrage against humanity. It robs people of their dignity and lets injustice thrive. We seek to eradicate extreme poverty by tackling its root causes. Together with people living in poverty, we amplify our voices to speak truth to power and create lasting change."
