Dean Pit proposed for closure

The tip/recycling centre at Dean Pit, near Chadlington, is set to close under proposals by Oxfordshire County Council and the local Waste Partnership.

The new 'waste recycling centre strategy', to be proposed for agreement at a meeting tomorrow (Friday), envisages closing Dean Pit as well as nearby Ardley (near the M40 Brackley junction) and Stanford-in-the-Vale.

A new site would be built at Langford Lane, Kidlington; another tip would be relocated at Alkerton, near Banbury; and Dix Pit, at Stanton Harcourt, would also continue in operation. Within four years, the Kidlington site would become the only one in Oxfordshire to take non-recyclable waste.

The Waste Partnership envisages that closing the three tips would save £750,000 per annum. The proposals can be read here.
