Charlbury's double-track railway

People who don't regularly venture down to the station will get a surprise on their next visit - there are now two tracks.

The sleepers and rails for the new westbound ('down') line have been laid through Charlbury station, but little further. Work is progressing on the rest of the double-track section: ballast has been laid down and new concrete sleepers are being left by the side in readiness. The new track will eventually extend as far as the Cornbury Park bridge (in the Oxford direction) and Ascott-under-Wychwood (in the Worcester direction).

Regular updates are being posted on a long (60-page!) thread on the unofficial First Great Western discussion forum.
