Yellow Pages can now be put into black boxes for recycling

Previously old Yellow Pages directories had to be collected separately in a bin at the Spendlove, but from 2009 they can be put into your black box with all your other recyclables. www.tinyurl.com/mx2k33

Don't worry if you see the contents of your black boxes all muddled up together in the same refuse lorry - they all get separated during the initial processing at a MRF (Materials Recovery Facility). Glass is heavier than the rest and roll out of the slightly angled Trommel screen to get crushed. Then the cans get separated from the cardboard, paper and plastics which get separated by teams of people picking them off conveyor belts. Their expert hand & eye coordination guarantees a good quality product which then gets baled up for recycling elsewhere.
