Hedge Fund
A massive thank you to everyone who has been involved in setting up Charlbury ‘Hedge Fund’. Hedge Fund and a small ‘Heg-spital’ (hedgehog hospital!) This provides treatment for sick and injured hedgehogs, ongoing care and rehabilitation before their return to the wide- side. Hedge Fund has its own trained hedgehog first aider and will work closely with the amazingly experienced Heavenly Hedgehogs nurse, a group of volunteers and Hook Norton Veterinary Group (who kindly provide support on a not-for-profit basis).
The rapid set up of the Heg-spital has been possible through the generous donations of funds and items from the amazon wish list by a group of over 45 Hedge Fund friends and with equipment provided by Heavenly Hedgehogs. The first 4 admissions have arrived and 2 pairs of hedgehogs have been released at Ditchley Park, and several more are acclimatising in the garden en-suite ‘Heg-rooms’ before release in the coming weeks. Some of these hedgehogs have already been visited by local school children who kindly provided and set up a house for them.
Hedge Fund can be contacted rapidly through the Hedge Fund Charlbury forum account (which sends an immediate message). Please note Hedge Fund doesn’t provide a 24 hour service and wildlife hospitals should be the first point of contact for any seriously sick or badly injured hedgehogs.
Hedge Fund with Charlbury Wildlife Society urgently need to raise funds for the cost of medication provided at cost by the Hook Norton Veterinary Group, and some remaining set-up costs for the Heg-spital such as skin and wound treatments, parasite medications, antiseptics, pain relief, dry and soft food, special baby milk and disinfectants.
