Charlbury Museum needs your help

Charlbury Museum needs your help with its new list of 200+ Charlbury men who served in the Forces during the First World War. According to the Absent Voters List 1918 there are ten who served in the Royal Flying Corps, but we have very little information about them and their service. They are Airman T Victor Blunt, Noel Montague Bois, Charles William Collins, Private William George Bowen, Amos John George, Ben Hadland, Airman Thomas Harris, Fred Hurst, Airman Ernest Lambell Moxey, and Arthur Charles Stayte. In his reminiscences Mr George says he was in the Army Service Corps, not the RFC. Mr Collins and Mr Harris were carpenters/undertakers - perhaps they repaired those wooden aircraft? Mr Moxey was an Army reservist and son of Charlbury's tailor. Noel Bois was an engineering student. All ten survived the War but is the Absent Voters List completely accurate about their service?
Can you help? Do they have any link with your family? Please contact Janet Jeffs on 810709 or email charlburymuseum@elmstead.plus.com. You can inspect the list in the Museum. For Museum opening times - see "Town facilities" on this website.
