As You Like It
Another winter and another Shakespeare comedy
Set in a forest (mainly) what could be more appropriate for us Wychwood folks and in this year of the bard ?
'As You Like It' is one of Shakespeare's richest and most popular comedies. The cast covers a wide range of ages from young people in love to the very old. The characters also range from posh courtiers coping (up to a point !)
with rural life (sounds familiar ?) to sturdy shepherds and country maidens.
This contrast is the source of much of the comedy.
There are at least four love affairs, most going not at all smoothly.
I will (what's new ?) do some clever (I hope) cutting so that we have a fast paced trim production----modernish costumes (30s perhaps ?)
some gender blind casting and a dog !
Come to the auditions and join in the fun. If you've never done Shakespeare
before don't be scared----as he said 'the best in these kind are but shadows' !
