New speed limits for local roads?

Oxfordshire County Council has reviewed local speed limits and is proposing to reduce the maximum on several roads out of Charlbury.

The proposals include:

  • 50mph limit from Charlbury to Finstock (B4022)
  • Short extension to the 30mph limit on the Woodstock Road (B4437) to cover the entire residential area
  • 40mph limit from Charlbury to Spelsbury (B4026)

A formal consultation is expected to be held on the proposals. The Charlbury Cycling Group has suggested to OCC that on the B4022 out of Charlbury, in the Finstock direction, the initial bendy section from Five Ways to the Charlbury town signs should have a 30mph limit. Several accidents have occurred on this road.
