Charlbury Beer Festival: going ahead as planned

Whatever the weather, the Charlbury Beer Festival will be going ahead on Saturday 14 July as planned. One of the festival's founders, Dave Sangwine, says: 'We've been going from strength to strength now for 15 years, and this is nothing that we cannot handle. There is no flood coming at the moment, so we will be able to access the site, and we are providing plenty of marquee space and wet weather cover. This year's chair, Ed Wigzell, has contingency plans in place for a different layout so that the damage to the pitch is minimal, and we have the backing of the Cricket Club, provided that we do not damage the field with unnecessary vehicle movements. So tell everyone to come to the festival on foot, by bike or by train, or if they need to drive, then park at the station (special reduced parking rates will be in operation there all day). Bring your wellies, but bring your sun tan lotion too for when the sun comes out, as I'm sure it will.'
