Tue 27 Feb 2018: Modern Prophets - Visions of a better tomorrow

This event is in the past.

The second in a series of talks about people who have changed our world for the better will be given by the Revd David Haslam on Tuesday 27 February at 8 pm in St Mary's Parish Church. Doors open 7.30 pm.
The subject is Dr Pauline Webb,a lay leader in the Methodist Church and a pioneer of women's ministry. She was the first woman to be elected an officer of the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches where, as Vice-Moderator (1968-1975), she played a leading role in its programme to combat racism and was thrown out of South Africa for her outspoken views. She was later appointed organiser of Religious Broadcasting for the BBC World Service, and was a regular contributor to Pause for Thought on Radio 2 and Thought for the Day on Radio 4. She died last year.
Admission free. Donations gratefully accepted to cover expenses and for Christian Aid's emergency appeal for the Rohingya refugees. Everyone is welcome.
Organised by Churches Together in Charlbury.
