Buddy (Will Ferrell) accidentally transported to the North Pole as a toddler is raised among Santa's elves. Now grown up, Buddy travels to New York, in full elf uniform, in search of his real father, Walter Hobbs (James Caan). After a DNA test Walter reluctantly begins a relationship with the childlike Buddy with increasingly chaotic results.
