Gordon Giltrap

As one of the UK's most respected guitarists, the legendary Gordon Giltrap has graced the music business with his dedication to his craft and affection for his audience for over 40 years. Playing the guitar from the age of 12, he never received formal tuition, and gradually developed his own style and technique. His musical styles cross several genres, including folk, blues, folk-rock, pop, classical and rock. He was signed to Transatlantic Records at the age of 18, and has released numerous acclaimed albums, including the 1976 album Visionary, based on the art and poetry of William Blake. His follow-up album Perilous Journey was named by the Sunday Times as one of the best albums of 1977.
Gordon enjoyed a brief spell in the 70s as a pop star, with a trio of now classic albums and hit singles: 'Heartsong' (nominated for an Ivor Novello award, and fondly remembered as the theme tune to the BBC's Holiday programme) and 'Fear of the Dark', while Gordon himself rates the bestselling 2007 album Troubadour as his finest work.

Gordon has performed alongside Bert Jansch (one of his major influences), John Renbourn, Brian May, Rick Wakeman and Mike Oldfield, amongst many others.

'Gordon Giltrap is one of the best acoustic guitar players in the world. His concerts and playing are breathtaking. He's also very witty, and I love the fact that he has not cut his hair!' Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple and Blackmore's Night)

'Gordon Giltrap is one of an elite few who truly have become legendary in their field in their own lifetime.' - Brian May

Nick Hooper

Although Nick Hooper is better known as a film-music composer, he started his musical career as a guitarist, studying at The Royal College of Music, and receiving tuition from John Williams and others.

In the late 70s he toured widely under the auspices of Yehudi Menuhin's Live Music Now, and also The British Council. In the 1980s Nick released a folk album Turning Tables with Chris Leslie, and a solo album of music by J S Bach which was critically acclaimed, comparing his playing to that of John Williams and Andres Segovia.

Decades later, after a successful film music career, scoring two Harry potter films and winning many awards, Nick has returned to his first love -- the guitar. He joined forces with his wife Judith to form the duo Henderson:Hooper, started a folk series which has now become 'Pop-up Folk', and helped form the Dellywellyboot Band. A couple of years ago Nick recorded an album of mainly Irish music Six Strings, and it was this that caused him to meet Gordon Giltrap: Gordon generously helped him to get his new Fylde guitar -- a copy of Gordon's.

Of Six Strings: 'It's a complete joy. It's going to be one of those albums that I play a lot, because it's got that kind of calm spaciousness about it too, which is absolutely brilliant. Yeah, love it!' Chris Leslie
