Sat 17 Jun 2017: SPEAKEASY SPECIAL FOR THE CHARLBURY FESTIVAL

This event is in the past.

Memorial Hall, 7:30 to 11:00pm

To help round off the Charlbury Festival, the Charlbury Speakeasy is moving to the Memorial Hall (and from a Friday to a Saturday) for a special one-off programme of music, poetry and dance.

There'll be jazz from Alan Fraser's Men From The Mingus Tree and space for you to dance! Better still there'll be experts from Just Jive on hand to show you how it's done. Maybe you'll be tempted to try your hand at Lindy Hop!

Still more excitement: there'll be a full scale Poetry Slam led by performance poet Lucy Ayrton. If you've never been to a poetry slam, it's huge fun. See poets competing for the audience's approval and hear some great verse into the bargain.

It'll start earlier than usual (the doors open at 7pm) so feel free to bring a picnic and drinks with you.

Tickets are £10 and you can buy them at the door (no advance booking).
