Sir John, out of favour with Prince Hal (soon to be King Henry V), is down on his luck and living on a measly pension as a "Poor Knight"; (ex soldier) at The Garter Inn in Windsor.
Falstaff sees "entertainment..." in the comely shapes of Mistress Ford, wife of the wealthy (and pathologically jealous) businessman Master Ford, and her good friend Mistress Page, wife to the philosophical (and also rich) Master Ford. Both wives Falstaff believes, "...rule" their husbands' "purses".
Sir John plans to seduce both wives and, by his "charms" and "better parts", embezzle both husbands and thus relieve his penury.
Meanwhile Anne Page, young, attractive (well endowry'd) daughter of the Pages' finds herself pursued by three suitors, only one of whom she loves.
How does it all end? If Falstaff doesn't get what he's after, what does he get?
Does sweet Anne get her man? How do the Merry Wives fare? Are their husbands "Cuckolded"?
Do come and see it!
