This 3 hour workshop combines observational drawing and a printmaking process invented in the 19th century called cyanotype. Working in the local landscape we will draw images and gather small finds from nature to bring back to the studio. We will use the objects we have found to compose images on paper that is pre-prepared with a solution of iron salts which when exposed to sunlight will print photogram silhouettes and interesting shapes. Once dry we will then develop these intriguing compositions by combining them with drawing and mono-printing. This workshop is ideal for a student who enjoys art and who wants to develop their drawing skills and to learn a rare but fascinating printmaking technique. Please note all paper will be pre-prepared and no chemicals will be handled by the students.
