Wed 20 May 2015: Charlbury WI May meeting - Behind the Scenes of The Great British Bake Off

This event is in the past.

Our May speaker, Christine Wallace, was a contestant on the 4th series of the BBC's The Great British Bake Off. The show's format is familiar to many: 14 amateur bakers are set 3 challenges in each episode with one being eliminated every week until only three remain, a winner & 2 runners-up. Christine will be talking about how and why she decided to apply for the Bake Off and the telephone call from the programme's researcher when she had long forgotten about her application. She'll be shedding light on the selection and audition processes and be sharing stories of what life is really like in 'the tent'. Her talk is a fascinating insight into behind-the-scenes of both television and baking, even if you have never watched the show. As well as being kept busy giving talks, judging baking competitions & attending fund raising events, Christine also has her own BBC Oxford radio show on Sundays called Garden Café.

If you've not been before, then please come along and try Charlbury WI. We have a really good programme for 2015 (see Community/Social page for full details), a growing membership (of all ages) and always have delicious home-made cake at meetings!
