A day workshop by the world renowned botanic illustrator, and Finstock resident, Rosemary Wise.
A fantastic opportunity for beginner or more experienced painter to gain tuition from Rosemary who has been botanical artist for the department of Plant Sciences in Oxford University since 1965, and is also associate member of the staff of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Described by The Linnean Society as 'an incredible artist'.
Rosemary has illustrated many books and scientific papers, and assisted with undergraduate teaching. She has accompanied expeditions to many places to illustrate plants, including Bolivia, Grenada, Kenya, Malaysia, Peru, Portugal, Scandinavia, Seychelles, Spain, West Papua and Papua New Guinea. She has run courses, mostly in watercolour techniques, at Oxford Botanic Garden and has also conducted illustration courses for botanists in Bolivia, Sweden, Kenya, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia.
All materials (paper, paint, petri dish, etc.) are provided, together with free tea/coffee/soft drinks and ploughman's lunch. Attendees need only bring their own paintbrushes (fairly fine) which are available from any craft shop or online. Attendees may bring their own flower or plant to paint although some will be provided.
