Martin Greenwood has been a regular lecturer for the WEA and for local historical societies. He has written a number of books on local historical topics, three of which were published by Jon Carpenter at the Wychwood Press in Charlbury. The talk is about the role of the Banburyshire carriers in the 19th century and their links with the local villages. At their peak some 200 carriers linked Banbury to 140 villages. He will also focus on the role of the Charlbury carriers and some others local to Charlbury - looking at their various functions, method of operation, the families involved, and assessing their importance.
