Based on South African President Nelson Mandela's autobiography, this film chronicles his early life, education and 27 years in prison before becoming President and working to rebuild the country's once segregated society.
Idris Elba stars as Nelson Mandela in an inspirational story depicting the political and emotional development of a talented and passionately committed man. It is compelling viewing and evokes both joy and despair. We learn about the intelligent and patient dignity of Mandela and the suffering of his family, and the long-awaited positive outcome after the many years of repression.
