On time leaving Paddington. Windscreen broken by stone from loaded goods train just south of Oxford. Crawled into Oxford 15m late. Usual fiasco regarding onwards travel. Announcement to remain in station concourse - no FGW staff visible. Finally told taxis were being arranged. Then watched 1 FGW employee (presumably the most junior based at Oxford and without any experience of similar situation) attempt to organise onward taxis. Almost felt sorry for him until he advised Worcester-bound passengers they would be quicker to wait for next train (2252 at Oxford) than take cab. Eventually at Charlbury at 2250. We were brought back by an Oxford minicab driver (one of many who turned up at Oxford station) who maintained he didn't need a FGW chit as their firm had an account with the station. Simply needed a signature on arrival at Charlbury. FGW man at Oxford didn't want to listen to the mincab drivers but it might be worth remembering for future use.
